YouTube cabbie asks: ‘Is your Uber more expensive than a black taxi?’
Is your Uber more expensive than a black taxi? One taxi driver has created a short video finding out just that.
Tom Hutley, a London taxi driver, tour guide and successful YouTuber, posted his latest video to thousands of subscribers comparing the real-time prices recorded on the licensed taxi meter to that of the prices quoted on the Uber app.
Throughout the video the cab driver reveals his findings and shares his opinion on the ride-hailing operators ‘surge’ pricing policy.
Throughout this month, especially during the peak weekend hours, users of the Uber ride-hailing service have complained about high prices and lack of available vehicles on social media.
A lack of available drivers since lockdown easements began is seen as one major reason why prices have risen at times of demand.
Hutley said: “I've wanted to do this style of video for a while, with more pressure in the media and more feedback from passengers, now was the time for this video.
“I'm of course very passionate about this subject and proud how this video came out!”
