Wolverhampton taxi and private hire drivers can now apply for £2,000 support grant
City of Wolverhampton Council is offering grant support to Wolverhampton taxi and private hire drivers whose business has been significantly impacted by government restrictions during lockdown.
The Additional Restriction Grant – Taxi and Private Hire Grant Scheme is offering eligible divers a one-off payment of £2,000.
In order to be eligible for the grant, drivers must be a resident of Wolverhampton and have been significantly impacted by government restrictions.
Applicants will need to provide the following evidence:
Name of applicant / licensed driver
Badge Number (HD or PD)
Bank details in the driver’s name must be provided
National Insurance Number
Drivers must confirm they are self-employed and do not receive a salary from an employer through the PAYE scheme
Drivers need to certify they are not bankrupt, nor have they received a Statutory Demand or Bankruptcy Petition
Drivers must have lived in Wolverhampton for the past 13 weeks and must have notified Licensing Services of their current address

Must have held a taxi license since November 4, 2020.
Once a driver has applied, they will receive an email advising them of the council’s decision within 20 working days.
The council have said that “all grant application forms submitted by businesses are subject to thorough eligibility checks”, with further communication with businesses part of the conditions, if necessary and if any of the required information is missing.
A spokesperson for the council said: “It is important that you do not submit duplicate applications as this may result in your application being cancelled.”
