A joint operation by the City of Wolverhampton Council and Hull City Council, supported by Humberside Police, led to the discovery of a private hire vehicle (PHV) with an unsafe tyre.

During a routine inspection, officers found a tyre with exposed cords, a serious safety hazard.

The out-of area operation aimed to ensure compliance with safety standards for vehicles and drivers. Upon identifying the dangerous tyre, immediate action was taken. The police intervened, and the private hire vehicle (PHV) licence was suspended.

The incident highlights the importance of regular vehicle maintenance especially when transporting passengers.

A City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection spokesperson said: “Today, Compliance teamed up with Hull City Council Licensing and Humberside Police Roads to conduct thorough vehicle and driver checks.
