At the IAA Transportation 2024, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is introducing an updated version of the Crafter, specifically adapted for the private hire and taxi industry. With its flexible design and innovative features, this new model offers a practical solution for passenger transport and accessible mobility.

The Crafter, converted by AMF-Bruns, is now available as a Kombi variant. It features the aluminium Smartfloor system, allowing up to seven individual seats in the passenger compartment to be easily arranged, offering flexibility for different transport needs. This nine-seater vehicle (including driver) is equipped with an optional electrically retractable step to facilitate access.

One of the standout features of the model is its accessibility for wheelchair users. The Smartfloor system allows for a quick rearrangement of seats, creating space for wheelchair transport. Additionally, the vehicle can be equipped with a rear electric ramp, making it easier for passengers with limited mobility to board. A dedicated wheelchair restraint system ensures safe and secure transport.

Volkswagen is also offering a private hire and taxi package for the Crafter, positioning it as a versatile and reliable option for operators looking for a spacious, adaptable vehicle. This model caters to a growing demand for accessible and flexible transport, combining practicality with comfort.

With these innovations, Volkswagen's Crafter is looking to become a more prominent player in the private hire and taxi markets, offering a solution that adapts to the specific needs of both operators and passengers.
