Unlicensed and uninsured private hire driver who drove along pedestrian zone summoned to court
A private hire driver has been summoned to court and had their vehicle seized for having no insurance and an expired licence.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police Stockport Division were alerted to the driver when the vehicle was seen driving through a pedestrian zone while the police were undertaking a road safety operation.
Further investigations revealed a number of other offences.
A spokesperson for the force, said: "Officers from Stockport Tutor Unit are engaged on a road safety operation on Warren Street in Stockport Town Centre after recent collisions and concerns of drivers speeding down the restricted pedestrian zone.
"A vehicle came down the pedestrian zone and the driver had no insurance and expired licence. Vehicle seized and driver summoned to court."
Officers did not confirm which authority the driver is licensed with.
