Uninsured London minicab ‘BORROWED’ by friend seized by police

A London minicab has been seized by police after officers pulled over the uninsured private hire vehicle ‘borrowed’ by a friend.

The Metropolitan Police Roads and Transport team pulled over the licensed private hire vehicle yesterday evening. Police shared a photo of the dark grey Toyota Prius minicab via social media.

Upon inspection the driver of the vehicle told police that they had ‘borrowed’ the car from friends. The driver did not have a valid driving licence or insurance.

As a result the vehicle was seized by the Taxi and Private Hire Policing Team.

A spokesperson from Met Police Road and Transport said via social media: “This PHV (Private Hire Vehicle) was seized by T&PHPT (Taxi and Private Hire Policing Team) as the driver borrowed his friends car but did not have a valid driving licence or insurance."
