Andrew Barnett, the founder of Ubiquitous, will retire at the end of April after leading the taxi advertising firm for 20 years. The London-based company confirmed it will be business as usual, with a seasoned leadership team already in place to steer operations forward.
From 1 May, Chief Revenue Officer Jim Cohen steps into the role of Managing Director. Suzy Taylor, currently Director of Campaign Management, becomes Director of Operations. They join Director of Finance Simon Lavelle to form a leadership trio with over 60 years of combined experience in the sector.
Barnett launched Ubiquitous in 2005 from a portable cabin in Bethnal Green. Under his direction, the company became the dominant player in UK taxi advertising. He emphasised a focus on delivery and service, values that remain central to the business.
Ubiquitous remains focused on traditional, full-wrap taxi advertising. Its campaigns continue to deliver reach and visibility for brands across the capital and beyond. The company also benefits from being part of Firefly, the US-based digital taxi advertising leader, bringing additional resources and global backing.
With Louise Walsh appointed as Group Head, Ubiquitous is also expanding its presence in other UK cities. The firm is now working more closely with regional agencies to support national campaign planning.
Barnett said: “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved since the business started in a Portakabin in Bethnal Green in January 2005. It has been a rewarding, fun and, at times, exhausting challenge to drive the business to where it is today - a coveted position in the UK OOH sector. From day one, we have been pedantic about delivery and service quality. That hasn't changed, and I know it will continue without me.
“I thank everyone at Ubiq (past and present) for all their efforts over the years. I also thank our incredible suppliers, including, of course, the thousands of loyal cabbies who carry our campaigns. You have been and will continue to be as valuable and essential to us as our clients."
