Uber unveils airport travel updates ahead of holiday rush
As the holiday season approaches, Uber is gearing up to simplify airport travel during what’s expected to be one of the busiest Thanksgiving periods on record.
The ride-hailing giant has introduced several new features aimed at easing the stress of navigating crowded terminals and packed schedules.
One standout offering is the launch of UberXXL, designed for travellers with extra baggage or larger groups. This new option provides vehicles with expanded boot space and spacious seating, catering specifically to airport pick-ups and drop-offs. UberXXL is now operational at more than 60 airports worldwide, including 40 across the US and Canada, with plans to expand further. As an introductory incentive, Uber One members can claim $20 Uber Cash back on their next UberXXL ride between 20 November and 1 December.
Cost-conscious travellers will also find the arrival of UberX Share at select airports. This service allows passengers to share a ride with one other traveller, cutting up to 25% off the standard UberX fare. Available immediately at airports in key US cities such as Miami, Denver, and Washington D.C., as well as international hubs like Amsterdam and Madrid, UberX Share provides a more budget-friendly option for airport transfers.
Planning ahead is also getting an upgrade with new features for Uber Reserve. The service now includes a Flight Capture tool, enabling riders to input flight details and receive recommendations on when to leave to ensure timely arrivals.
Flight-tracking integration will notify users of delays and offer options to adjust their ride as needed. Additionally, Uber Reserve now allows for multiple stops, accommodating errands such as gift drop-offs or family pick-ups during the holiday season.
With these updates, Uber aims to offer smoother and more convenient travel experiences, just in time for the year’s peak travel period.
