Uber drivers and passengers MUST commit to new Community Guidelines or lose access to platform
Uber recently announced their latest steps to help make trips safer and more respectful between drivers and passengers.
Uber’s Community Guidelines are focused on treating everyone with respect, keeping each other safe and reporting anything that is wrong to Uber so that appropriate action can be taken.
All drivers and riders are being asked to recommit to the Community Guidelines in order to continue either riding on or driving with the Uber platform. Users who do not recommit to the Guidelines will eventually be unable to use the platform.
The ask comes as part of a continued effort to educate everyone in the Uber community about anti-racism and their zero-tolerance discrimination policy.
Bex Xiao, Uber UK Head of Community Operations, said: “At Uber, we believe that everyone has the right to move freely, no matter who they are, where they come from, or where they are going. We want every trip to be a respectful and positive experience for both riders and drivers, which is why we are asking everyone who uses our app to recommit to our Community Guidelines.”
Mick Rix, GMB Union, said: “We have long called for companies such as Uber to make their platform as safe and respectful as possible, and we are pleased we have been listened to. This new campaign is one of the ways that GMB is working with Uber to make the platform as safe as possible, and we call on all operators, including Bolt, to follow their lead, raise the bar and treat all drivers as workers.”
