Uber and Delta forge partnership to boost traveller benefits in the United States
Uber has announced a partnership with Delta Airlines to enhance the travel experience for its users, introducing a new way to earn Delta SkyMiles through Uber services in the United States.
The collaboration, set to launch this spring, makes Uber Delta’s exclusive rideshare and delivery partner in the region.
This move aims to streamline airport journeys while rewarding frequent travellers. Once linked, customers’ Uber and Delta accounts will allow them to earn SkyMiles across a range of services. Points will be awarded for Uber rides to and from airports, premium ride options, and Uber Eats orders exceeding $40.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi outlined recent efforts to improve airport travel, including the rollout of features like Uber Shuttle to LaGuardia Airport, the extra luggage-friendly UberXXL, and UberX Share, which provides a cost-saving option for those willing to share rides with other travellers.
The partnership also highlights Uber Reserve, a service designed to ensure timely airport arrivals. Customers opting for this feature will earn even more SkyMiles, incentivising pre-booked, stress-free journeys.
Given that 15% of all Uber trips globally involve airports, the initiative is poised to be widely embraced.
Ed Bastian, Delta CEO, said: ”Delta is thrilled to come together with Uber to create a connected travel experience from start to finish.
“This partnership creates more choice for customers to get to their destination in a way that works best for them.”
