Two private hire vehicles suspended after officials find HORROR illegal tyres
Two minicab vehicles were suspended after slick horror tyres were found by officials last night in Liverpool.
One of the illegal tyres found on a Sefton licensed private hire driver's car was located on Bold Street, nearby Liverpool Central train station.
Images shared by Liverpool City Council officials show the tyres grip completely worn away on one half of the tyre and illegal low on the other half.
White cords under the tyres' rubber were also showing.
On social media, readers commented saying the wheel was the “worst I’ve seen” and “that’s an absolute disgrace that tyre”.
A second private hire vehicle, licensed by West Lancashire Borough Council was also later found and suspended with similar issues.
The vehicle was suspended by officials on the Williamson Square rank for an illegal tyre also heavily worn and displaying cords.
The legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK and Europe is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, according to current law.
