Traffic Offence Report issued to minicab driver parked on Hard Shoulder of Manchester Airport spur

A Manchester private hire driver has been issued a Traffic Offence Report for parking on the Hard Shoulder of the M56 Manchester Airport spur road.

North West Motorway Police logged the incident via their Twitter feed, saying: '#ME44 got 5 minutes down the M56 and found this private hire on the H/S of the airport spur. Again we stopped to see what the emergency was! No emergency, stopped to take a phone call. Traffic Offence Report issued. #EmergencyUseOnly.'

Social media users had their own opinions on why the driver was parked illegally on the hard shoulder, with one writing 'more likely let passengers out or collecting them for the sake of £3'.

One Twitter user thought the punishment should be harsher, writing: 'Another driver who needs his car seizing.'

It wasn't long ago, at the same spot, when North West Motorway Police stopped to assist another private hire driver parked on the hard shoulder, only to find the man watching pornagraphic material on his phone.

On that occasion the police were able to confirm that the driver was working on the Uber platform and was sitting waiting for a job to come through to him.

Posting on their Facebook page, NW Motorway Police, said: 'Manchester licensed private hire, under Uber banner, driver parked on hard shoulder of EB M56 airport spur watching pornographic material on mobile phone.'

A Traffic Offence Report was also issued for that incident.
