Taxi vehicle safety compliance campaign sees 10 defect notices & 5 suspensions issued in Cornwall

A taxi vehicle safety and compliance campaign held by Devon & Cornwall Police in conjunction with Cornwall Council has resulted in a number of defect notices handed to drivers.


In total, 10 defect notices were issued to drivers for various issues relating to vehicle road regulations.

In addition, 5 drivers were suspended from trading and 2 others prevented from driving.


Other results from the compliance checks saw 1 vehicle being seized and one driver reported for using their mobile phone while behind the wheel.

Devon & Cornwall Roads Policing Team used their official Twitter account @DC_RPT to highlight the day of action: "Working with Cornwall Taxi Licensing Dept at the start of an ongoing vehicle & safety compliance campaign in Truro, Falmouth, Camborne, Redruth, resulted in 10 defect notices, 5 suspensions from trading, 2 prevented from driving, 1 seized, 1 using mobile phone. #SaferRoads."
