Taxi seized by police in central London for having no insurance and registered as ‘off road’
A London taxi has been seized by police after officers stopped the vehicle in central London for having no insurance policy in place.
The Metropolitan Police ‘Cabs Unit’ team pulled over the licensed taxi on Berkeley Street in London’s swanky Mayfair area.
Upon inspection the vehicle was found to be registered as “Off Road’ and had no insurance policy in place.
The vehicle, a silver TX4 wrapped in red adverting, was seized by the police. Both the DVLA and Transport for London (TfL) Taxi and Private Hire will also be notified.
A spokesperson from Met Police Road and Transport said via social media: “This Taxi was stopped by Cabs Unit in Westminster as there was no policy of insurance in place and notified off road.
"The vehicle was seized and DVLA notified. TfL Taxi and Private Hire will also be informed.”
