Scottish taxi firms unite to offer reward after spate of alleged vehicle attacks

Two Renfrewshire taxi firms have come together to offer a reward following a series of alleged attacks on their vehicles.

Alpha Taxis Johnstone and Johnstone TOA Taxis announced the incentive in response to damage caused by thieves, which has left many of their drivers out of pocket.

In a joint statement shared on social media, the firms confirmed they are offering a financial reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible.

Both companies revealed that thieves have been targeting taxis in the area, smashing windows and stealing items from inside. The attacks have caused considerable financial and emotional strain on drivers, who face not only repair costs but also a loss of earnings while their vehicles are off the road.

The companies clarified that their drivers do not leave any valuable items in their cars, including cash, and urged the public to report any information to the taxi offices.

The reward is intended to encourage the local community to help bring those responsible to justice. Anyone with information is asked to contact the taxi firms and speak with the office manager.

The statement on Alpha Taxis Johnstone social media page reads: “As you will all be aware there has been a recent series of attacks on taxis across the area whereby the windows have been smashed and items removed from inside the vehicles.

“This has caused a significant amount of distress to the drivers involved and has cost a lot of money in repairing the damage along with a significant loss of earnings to our drivers.

“We would like to advise everyone that none of our drivers leave anything of any value within their vehicles , this includes money !!

“Both Alpha Taxis & Johnstone TOA are now prepared to offer a financial reward for the successful apprehension and subsequent conviction of the individual (s) involved in this spate of attacks.

“Should you have details of who is / has been responsible then please get in touch with the taxi office and ask for the office manager.“
