Taxi drivers ready for Heathrow Airport travel surge amid Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express weekend disruption
This weekend, Heathrow Airport passengers will face significant travel disruptions as both the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express suspend their services.
The closure, set to last across Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November, is expected to drive an uptick in demand for taxi services, with drivers prepared to step in as the go-to option for travellers.
Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed there will be no Elizabeth Line trains running between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow Airport on these dates. Additionally, the Heathrow Express, including its inter-terminal connections, will not operate.
Passengers are being advised to use the Piccadilly Line for journeys between Central London and Heathrow or rely on local bus services for shorter trips. However, many travellers are likely to seek the convenience and reliability offered by taxis.
For groups or families, taxis are emerging as a particularly economical choice. With most licensed taxis capable of carrying up to six passengers and their luggage, the cost of the journey can be split, often making it competitive with rail fares. Unlike buses and trains, taxis provide a direct route to your destination, eliminating the need for multiple connections or the stress of managing heavy luggage on crowded platforms.
Taxis can be hailed from the street, found at taxi ranks in key areas or booked via apps.
