Taxi driver robbed and injured after being dragged under moving car during struggle
Police are urgently seeking witnesses and any available footage after a taxi driver was robbed and injured in a shocking incident on Overdale Road, Park End, Middlesbrough.
The incident occurred at approximately 3.40pm on Tuesday 28 May. A 51-year-old man was assaulted and dragged under his black Skoda taxi outside the Family Shopper store.
A group of males approached the driver inside his taxi, grabbing cash from him. During the struggle, the vehicle rolled back, trapping and injuring the driver. He sustained a suspected leg fracture and was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains on police bail as investigations continue. Two other boys, aged 16 and 17, were also arrested but have since been released without charge.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the event or has relevant footage to come forward to aid their investigation.
