Taxi driver assaulted outside Shrewsbury restaurant in weekend attack

West Mercia Police are investigating an assault on a taxi driver that took place outside a Shrewsbury restaurant on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at around 8.20pm near the Loopy Shrew on Bellstone. A man reportedly pushed the taxi driver and then grabbed him around the throat while the driver was outside his vehicle.
The suspect is described as white, in his 40s, of slim build with short grey hair.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation. Police are urging anyone who saw the assault or knows anything relevant to come forward.
