Taxi Centre and Digitax donates £1,700 for Beatson Cancer Charity during meter update fundraiser

The Taxi Centre and Digitax have donated £1,700 to Beatson Cancer Charity after collecting funds from Glasgow taxi drivers updating their meters.
The money was raised as local cabbies had their taximeters adjusted at The Taxi Centre following a recent fare increase. Rather than taking a profit, The Taxi Centre and Digitax agreed to donate the proceeds to the charity, which provides crucial support to people affected by cancer.
Based in Glasgow, Beatson Cancer Charity funds research, education, and specialist care. It plays a key role in supporting patients and their families through difficult times.
The Taxi Centre has been supplying vehicles to the trade for over two decades. Digitax, known for its taximeters and fleet management solutions, partnered in the initiative.
Paul Armstrong from Digitax, who personally carried out much of the meter update work, has a close connection to the charity. He received support from Beatson during his own experience with cancer.
Paul said: "Beatson was there for me during one of the toughest times in my life. Their support was invaluable, providing not just medical care but also emotional and psychological support. Being able to give back in this way means the world to me. It's a small token of appreciation for the immense help they provided me and countless others."
James Welsh, LEVC Sales Manager at The Taxi Centre, said: "We are thrilled to have partnered with Digitax on this project. It's fantastic to see the taxi community come together to support such a worthy cause, as they always do.
“The response from the drivers has been overwhelmingly positive, and it's heartening to see everyone rallying together to make a difference. There’s a very strong community spirit within the trade. I’ve always found drivers to be very charitable people who go out of their way to help people during their time of need.”
Heilidh Wilson, Corporate Fundraiser at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: "We are incredibly grateful for the support from The Taxi Centre and Digitax. Donations like these help us continue our vital work in supporting cancer patients and their families. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a significant impact.”
