Swansea taxi drivers successfully pass late night police compliance checks
Taxi drivers in Swansea successfully passed a series of compliance checks conducted by police officers last night.
Officers from South Wales roads policing unit checked multiple vehicles and driver licences during the proactive operation.
Demand for taxi services has increased since coronavirus restriction measures were eased. The police checks are seen as a vital means to maintain safety levels within the night-time economy.
South Wales Police Roads Unit said via social media: “Officers in SWANSEA are conducting pro active stops on taxis actively checking licenses. To ensure the safety of those enjoying the night time economy with confidence in the taxi drivers taking them home.”
They added: “So far four taxis have been checked and all compliant and fully licensed.”
