Spanish taxi driver who transported COVID-19 patients for free receives standing ovation from medics
Hospital workers in a Madrid suburb surprised a taxi driver with a standing ovation and an envelope containing cash, to thank him for transporting coronavirus patients for free during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Spanish cabbie was called into the health centre by medical workers expecting to pick up his next patient, but was quickly shocked to see medics lined up in the reception of the Ramon y Cajal health centre in Alcorcon.
Clearly moved by the gesture, a medic hands the taxi driver an envelope with money collected to say thank you for his efforts.
The video was shared by Spanish taxi union, El Taxi Unido, and has been viewed over 11million times on Twitter alone.
The Deputy Mayor of Alcorcon City Council, Jesus Santos Gimeno, was one of thousands to have shared the video on social media. He added: “In solidarity, we will get out of this.”
