Taxi drivers in Neyland and Milford Haven faced enforcement action after Pembrokeshire County Council’s Licensing and School Transport Team joined Dyfed-Powys Police and the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency for roadside checks.
The operation, carried out on a Thursday morning, aimed to ensure compliance with taxi licensing regulations and road safety standards. Officers inspected 24 vehicles in total across the two towns.
As a result of the checks, six suspension notices were issued. Four vehicles received delayed prohibition notices due to defects that required attention. One vehicle was found to be untaxed, and further enforcement action was taken for driver offences, including fixed penalty notices.
Three drivers were also found not carrying their required ID badges while working.
A Pembrokeshire County Council spokesperson reminded taxi and private hire operators to carry out regular inspections. They said: “Taxi and Private Hire operators in Pembrokeshire are reminded to go through a vehicle checklist at least weekly to ensure that vehicles are safe and compliant with licence conditions.”
Further checks are expected in the future as part of ongoing compliance work.
