LEVC Brewery Road has reported a record-breaking performance in March, setting new highs for both TX orders and registrations. The announcement comes as the industry responded to changes in government support for electric taxis, with the Plug-in Taxi Grant (PiTG) reduced from £6,000 to £4,000 from 1 April.
According to a statement shared on social media, the site achieved its highest-ever number of new TX orders and registrations last month. The service department also posted its strongest Q1 turnover to date, surpassing all previous records.
March’s surge in orders coincided with the final weeks of the higher PiTG support level. The Government confirmed the cut at the end of March, despite calls from manufacturers and drivers to maintain or increase the grant to support the shift to cleaner vehicles. LEVC had previously described the reduction as disappointing, warning it could undermine efforts to modernise the fleet and meet environmental targets.
The timing appears to have prompted many drivers and operators to bring forward their purchasing plans to take advantage of the £6,000 support before the change. Industry insiders suggested that the drop in grant support may affect future demand for electric taxis, especially in the current economic climate.
An LEVC Brewery Road spokesperson said via social media: “Record-breaking success at LEVC Brewery Road!
“We're thrilled to announce that March this year was one for the books – with the team setting a new record for the highest-ever new orders for TX and TX registrations.
“Our Service Department also smashed previous Q1 records, achieving their highest turnover ever!
“A huge congratulations to all of the team – your hard work and dedication continue to set new standards. Let's keep the momentum going.”
