A pursuit by the Metropolitan Police’s Specials Unit ended in a collision with a private hire vehicle and multiple arrests overnight in Islington.
Officers initially stopped and arrested a suspect carrying a potential knife. Shortly afterwards, a separate vehicle failed to stop for police and a pursuit was authorised.
The fleeing vehicle crashed, coming to a stop after striking a white Toyota Prius licensed as a private hire vehicle. The driver was arrested at the scene.
Police confirmed the arrest was made for several offences, including failing to stop, possession of a knife, no insurance or driving licence, failure to provide a specimen for drink or drug testing, dangerous driving, and a racially aggravated public order offence.
In addition to the arrest, two more vehicles were seized for being uninsured.
The incident forms part of the Met Police’s ongoing targeted operations in the area.
