Private hire drivers warned of fines for stopping on Bromley South side road
Private hire drivers using the access road between Bromley Police Station and Waitrose as a pick-up or drop-off point for passengers using Bromley South train station are being hit with fines as new parking restrictions come into force.
The Metropolitan Police in Bromley confirmed that the restrictions are now enforced using ANPR cameras, with penalties issued to any unauthorised vehicles stopping or parking in the area.
The road is managed by private parking firm Britannia, and no exemptions are in place for private hire vehicles.
The measures aim to reduce congestion on the narrow access road, which has caused delays to emergency vehicles entering and exiting the police station. Authorities have also flagged security concerns as a key reason for the restrictions.
Police vehicles are permitted to use the road for parking, but personally owned vehicles, including private hire cars, are not allowed to stop for any duration.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area to prevent fines and to ensure emergency services can operate without obstruction.
