A private hire driver licensed with Liverpool City Council has been slammed for attending a vehicle licensing inspection with a badly damaged tyre.

Licensed drivers are expected to attend vehicle inspections with their car in legal order, but this one driver was found to have driven the private hire vehicle to the site with a tyre so damaged that parts of its cords were exposed.

Highlighting the incident on their official Twitter account @lcc_licensing, a spokesperson said: "If you are going to attend the licensing vehicle inspection site at Great Homer At Market, please ensure your tyres are legal."

They went on to confirm that the car was a private hire vehicle, adding: "The driver was supposed to have changed it yesterday. I would suggest it should have been earlier than that!"
