Police suspend the licence of Leeds PHV driver after vehicle found to have a serious defect

Michael Murphy

A Leeds City Council licensed private hire driver has had their licence suspended with immediate effect by West Yorkshire police.

The driver of the Skoda Octavia vehicle had been initially pulled over by officers for entering a 'No Entry' road.

After further inspection, officers found the vehicle to have a "serious defect", forcing the police to issue an immediate suspension.

A spokesperson for the force, said: "Officers from Leeds North East NPT dealt with a taxi [private hire vehicle] that had entered against a no entry sign. On checking the vehicle it was found to have a serious defect and the driver's private hire licence was suspended."

TaxiPoint has approached the police for more clarification on what the "serious defect" was.
