Police seeking ‘aggressive’ man who punched Northamptonshire taxi driver and damaged cab door panels
Police officers in Northamptonshire are seeking witnesses in Rushden following an incident of assault on a taxi driver and criminal damage to his vehicle.
The incident happened between midnight and 12.15am on Sunday 1 March, when a taxi driver picked up a fare from Market Square in Higham Ferrers and travelled towards Rushden.
A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said: “The driver became suspicious that his passengers were unable to pay the fare and stopped his car in High Street, Rushden, opposite The Railway Inn and asked the man and two females to get out.
“The man became aggressive and punched the driver in the face and head before getting out and kicking the vehicle causing damage to the door panels.
“The offender is described as white, about 30-years-old, 6ft, of a medium build with short hair and clean shaven. He spoke with a local accent.
“Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000116948.”
