Police Scotland urge taxi driver witness to come forward after community defibrillator theft in Stanley

Police Scotland are urging a taxi driver to come forward who may hold information following the theft of a community defibrillator from outside a Spar shop on Percy Street, Stanley.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.30am Sunday 27 October, though the theft was initially believed to be related to a medical emergency. However, on 11 November, the device was found abandoned in a carrier bag in the Bertha Park area of Perth. Its battery was missing, leaving replacement and repair costs at an estimated £360.

Police are keen to trace two men seen removing the defibrillator from its cabinet. Both are described as tall with dark hair. One was wearing a dark jacket, while the other wore a dark shirt open over a lighter undershirt with dark bottoms. They were last seen entering a black disabled-access taxi, which then drove away.

Officers are urging the taxi driver to come forward, as they may hold crucial information.

Anyone else with details that could aid the investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference CR/436904/24. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
