Police Scotland conduct taxi checks in Castle Douglas ahead of festive period

Road Policing Officers in Dumfries and Galloway carried out checks on licensed vehicles in Castle Douglas on Friday 29 November. The initiative forms part of the National Taxi & Private Hire Campaign.


The operation focused on ensuring taxis and private hire vehicles met maintenance and licensing requirements. Officers also aimed to promote awareness among drivers of their responsibilities as the busy festive season approaches.

A Police Scotland Dumfries and Galloway spokesperson said: “Today Road Policing Officers were carrying out licensed vehicle checks in the Castle Douglas area as part of the National Taxi & Private Hire Campaign.

“Officers were raising awareness of, and ensuring compliance with, vehicle maintenance and other licensing obligations for taxis and private hire car drivers ahead of the busy festive period.”
