Police operation finds handful of taxi & PH drivers and vehicles to be non compliant in London

A number of hackney carriage taxis and private hire vehicles underwent compliance checks in the capital, during a joint operation by the Metropolitan Police CabsUnit, Westminster's Safer Transport Team and Transport for London.


Officers from the three teams stopped a total of 75 vehicles; of which 54 were private hire and 21 were hackney carriage taxis.

Of the 54 private hire vehicles checked, 6 were found to be non compliant. 5 drivers were also found to have been non compliant.


Of the 21 hackney carriage taxis checked, 4 were found to be non compliant. 5 drivers were also found to have been non compliant. Details of which areas of compliance the vehicles and drivers fell short have not been detailed.

The joint operation took place on Friday 18 December.


Metropolitan Police Roads and Transport Team took to social media to highlight the results of the checks, saying: "Joint operation with officers from CabsUnit, MPS Westminster Safer Transport Team and the operational officers from TFLTPH this evening in central London.

"A number of traffic offence reports issued. All drivers are reminded to check their vehicle before they drive."
