Staffordshire Police’s Harm Prevention Team, in collaboration with partner agencies, conducted a significant vehicle compliance operation in the Stoke area.

The operation, involving the DVSA, Stoke on Trent Council’s Taxi Licensing, and Trading Standards, targeted vehicles for roadworthiness and legal compliance.

In a robust effort to address road safety, officers issued 22 tickets for ‘Fatal 4’ offences. These violations are known to contribute to the highest rates of serious collisions, highlighting the operation’s intent to curb dangerous behaviours on the roads.

In addition, two vehicles were seized, and one prohibition notice was issued for a dangerously maintained vehicle. Several vehicles were also identified as uninsured, posing further risks to road users.

It remains unconfirmed whether any of the vehicles stopped and penalised included licensed taxis or private hire vehicles. The operation reflects Staffordshire Police’s ongoing commitment to road safety and public protection across the Stoke area.

A Staffordshire Police Harm Prevention Team spokesperson said on social media: “Busy yesterday in the Stoke area.  Vehicle checksite with Partner agencies. DVSA, Stoke on Trent Council Taxi Licensing and Trading Standards Officers.

“22 tickets issued for ‘Fatal 4’ offences. 2 vehicles seized. 1 Prohibition for dangerous condition. Plus uninsured cars.”
