Hertfordshire Police believe a taxi fire in Watford was a deliberate targeted arson attack.

Emergency services were called to Kensington Avenue, West Watford, at around 1.54am on 14 February after reports of a vehicle on fire. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Police have now confirmed they suspect the fire was started deliberately.

An appeal has been made for information and CCTV footage from the public to assist with the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Andy Metselaar said on 14 February: “I am appealing for witnesses, any information or CCTV footage of an incident which occurred during the early hours of today (14 February).

“Following initial enquiries, the circumstances of the fire are unclear although we do believe it is a targeted attack and are treating it as arson.

“We are asking the public for their assistance as we work to identify a suspect.

“Please report any information to me by emailing andy.metselaar@herts.police.uk.”
