Points and fine handed to out of town Sefton minicab illegally plying for hire

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

A Merseyside private hire driver was today handed a fine and multiple points on his driver's licence after being caught illegally plying for hire.

Officers from Liverpool City Council (LCC) attended court today to give evidence against the Sefton licensed minicab driver.

The private hire driver later changed his plea to guilty.

Upon being declared guilty, the courts handed the out of town minicab driver a £690 fine and eight points on his driving licence.

Last weekend LCC’s enforcement team found four minicabs working illegally as part of their ongoing ‘Operation Inman’ clampdown. A further six private hire drivers were caught in the lead up to Christmas on Friday 21 December.

A spokesperson from LCC Licensing team said via social media: “Officers just returned from Court after attending to give evidence against a Sefton PHV driver for plying for hire. The driver changed his plea at the last minute to guilty - fines and costs imposed amounted to £690 with 8 penalty points put on his driving licence.”
