FINES DISHED OUT: Over 40 drivers penalised in Liverpool for misusing taxi ranks
Liverpool City Council's licensing team, in collaboration with Merseyside Police, has successfully carried out a significant operation against the misuse of taxi ranks in the city centre.
The crackdown led to over 40 drivers receiving penalty notices for parking their unauthorised vehicles on designated taxi ranks.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that taxi ranks are available exclusively for licensed taxis, thereby facilitating smoother and safer services for residents and visitors.
Authorities have indicated that such operations will continue to safeguard taxi services and reduce congestion caused by improperly parked vehicles.
A Liverpool City Council Licensing spokesperson said: “Liverpool Licensing Officers and Merseyside Police continued to take action against the drivers of unauthorised vehicles parking on Taxi Ranks in the City Centre.
“Over 40 penalty notices issued to vehicles during the operation. Ranks cleared!”
