In a coordinated initiative, the City of Wolverhampton Council announced a collaborative effort with Blackburn with Darwin Public Health, Blackburn and Darwin Council, and Blackburn Police to conduct private hire vehicle (PHV) and driver inspections.

The operation, which took place on Friday night at Blackburn Train Station, aimed at enforcing regulations and compliance of Wolverhampton licensed working in the Blackburn area.

By joining forces with local authorities and law enforcement, both councils are hoping a proactive approach to regulatory compliance around cross-border hiring will ensure that out-of-area PHV services in Blackburn operate within the established legal parameters.

A City of Wolverhampton Council Licensing spokesperson said: “On Friday night, compliance teamed up with Blackburn with Darwin Public Health, Blackburn and Darwin Council and Blackburn Police at Blackburn Train Station to conduct thorough vehicle and driver checks.”
