Ola offers half price rides to NHS workers and zero commission fees for drivers during outbreak

Perry Richardson

Ola UK today announced that it will offer NHS workers in the UK 50% off their rides to and from work as they care for patients impacted by COVID-19.

The ride-hailing firm have said they are committed to ensuring these dedicated workers can commute easily and quickly to and from work in this tough period.

From today, all NHS staff will receive 50% off their rides when they sign up to Ola using an NHS email address. This will be available for the first 10 rides and will initially run for a period of 15 days until 7 April. As a business, Ola will continue to keep the offer under review and will extend the scheme depending on the situation.

Ola has also extended the 0% commission rate for its drivers for another month in London. Private hire drivers will take home 100% of what they earn during what are difficult times in the industry.

A spokesperson from Ola said: “Our NHS workers are an inspiration to us all. The sacrifice, dedication and compassion being shown across the UK proves that the NHS is the best of us. So in these difficult times, Ola is here to make the little things easier. From today, all NHS staff will receive 50% off their rides on the Ola platform.

“We also recognise that this is a challenging and uncertain period for our driver-partners and we want to make clear that Ola is here to support them over the coming weeks. That is why we have extended our 0% commission rate for another month in London, so our drivers can rest assured they take home 100% of what they earn.”
