NUMEROUS private hire drivers dealt with for driving offences and regulatory failures in Manchester

A number of private hire drivers have been dealt with during an evening of enforcement by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
Officers from the GMP took to the streets of the city centre enforcing the speed limit, breathalysing drivers, testing for drug driving and checking for any motorists committing moving traffic offences.
Numerous private hire licensed drivers were pulled over for speeding or driving without headlights and other lamps not working.
During additional roadside checks, a number of these drivers were found to not be wearing their private hire driver's licence badge, which is required as part of their licensing agreement.
A spokesperson for the force took to social media to highlight the offences and licensing failures, saying: "We have been on Liverpool Road and have dealt with a number of professional drivers (private hire) driving with numerous lamps out, exceeding the speed limit and not wearing their private hire licence as per the terms of their permit - licensing informed."
