NEW YEAR’S EVE 2020: London events, transport and road restrictions will be different this year
Updated: Dec 13, 2020
Christmas and New Year plans in 2020 will be like none other in the capital due to the impact of coronavirus.
Whilst most Transport for London (TfL) public transport is open over the Christmas and New Year period, there will also be planned works and service changes throughout the period that will affect public transport and road travel.
It is worth noting that this year there are no special overnight services for New Year and no special free travel for the night.
As a result of the pandemic the annual central London New Year’s Eve fireworks event has been cancelled in 2020.
For those still looking to move around the city, black cab taxi services are available throughout the day and night. The price of the journeys are metered and not subjected to ‘surge’ pricing. There is however an additional £4 charge for black cabs from 8pm New Year's Eve (31 December) until 6am Saturday 2 January 2021.
You also can check the TfL travel status updates map for Tube, Overground, TfL Rail, DLR and London Trams services for 31 December.
TfL will publish full details of transport changes for New Year's Eve in the near future.
