National Transport Authority review indicates 9% taxi fare increase in Ireland

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has initiated a consultation on proposed changes for the National Maximum Taxi Fare Review 2024.

A newly published report evaluates the cost of operating a taxi service since the last fare review in 2022.

The findings indicate a 9% increase in operating costs between 2022 and 2024. Consequently, the report recommends an adjustment to the maximum taxi fare levels to match these rising costs.

Public consultation on these proposed changes is now open and will run until Friday 16 August 2024. This review process is part of the NTA's regular biennial assessment to ensure taxi fares align with current operational expenses in the Small Public Service Vehicle (SPSV) sector.

Stakeholders and the public are encouraged to participate in the consultation process to provide feedback on the proposed fare adjustments.
