A number of private hire drivers have been reported for offences ranging from not having an ID badge to illegally plying for hire in Liverpool.

Stop checks by Liverpool City Council's Licensing team took place outside the Circus event on Saturday 16 October.

During the checks, a number of vehicles and drivers came up short of regulations.

Highlighting the results of the roadside checks on their official Twitter account @lcc_licensing, a spokesperson for the council said: "Licensing officers were in attendance this evening at the Circus event, Blackstone street which went well.

"However, a number of licensed drivers who attended the event are to be reported for offences including PHV plying for hire, illegal tyres and no ID badges to name a few."
