Merseyside Police have released images of a man they believe could assist with their enquiries following an assault on a taxi driver in Leasowe.

The incident occurred at around 6.30am on Sunday 5 January, after a group of four people were picked up from Victoria Street in Liverpool city centre. During the journey towards Wirral, one of the male passengers became abusive.

Upon reaching Reeds Lane in Leasowe, the passenger assaulted the driver, a man in his 40s. The group then left the area on foot, and police were called to the scene.

The driver was not seriously injured but was left shaken by the attack. Officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Merseyside Police Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “We believe the man pictured in these images could have information to assist our ongoing enquiries.

“If you recognise yourself in these images, or you know who this is, please come forward to help our investigation.

“To assault a taxi driver, who was just trying to do his job, is completely unacceptable and we are determined to find the person responsible.”
