The Mayor of London is ‘aware’ of the THREE YEAR publishing delay of London's Taxi and Private Hire financial records.
In a recent query raised by Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, acknowledged the delay in the publication of essential financial summaries for the taxi and private hire sector. The records in question, spanning the last three fiscal years - 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023 - have yet to be disclosed by Transport for London (TfL).
This situation is not new. The Mayor of London was privy of a delay in June 2022, which he attributed to the pandemic's impact on operations and financial reporting. At that time, he assured that the figures for 2020/21 and 2021/22 were being updated and would be published in the “next few weeks”.
The financial summaries, vital for maintaining transparency within the capital's taxi sector and wider transport network, offer a detailed breakdown of the operational costs, revenue, and overall financial health of the taxi and private hire regulatory system.
These documents play a crucial role in ensuring accountability and providing valuable insights for stakeholders, including drivers, passengers, and regulatory bodies.
Addressing the matter, Mayor Khan has reiterated his awareness of the issue and assured that TfL is in the process of finalising the documents for public release.
Sadiq Khan said: “I am aware that Transport for London (TfL) hasn’t yet published the financial summaries but is working to finalise them as soon as possible. TfL officers will contact you as soon as they are published on their webpage.”
