MATCHBOX TAXI: Motoring enthusiasts can own an iconic taxi miniature in new ‘Best of Europe’ line
Taxi drivers and motoring enthusiasts could become the proud owners of a new LEVC TX model vehicle for as little as a couple of quid thanks to a new range of toy vehicles set to launch.
This year Mattel is relaunching the iconic Matchbox brand. Matchbox was founded more than 65 years ago by British inventor Jack Odell and to this day it sells more than 40 million toy vehicles each year. Today Matchbox is launching the new “Best of Europe” line, which pays homage to car manufacturers from Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Russia.
For the new “Best of Europe” range, the Matchbox designers wanted to display realistic and representative vehicles from the respective countries in order to pay tribute to the design and culture of the country. Together with relevant automobile manufacturers and in cooperation with local teams of the respective market, the designers found out the most popular vehicle types, colors and details of various vehicle types and thus managed to create unmistakable replicas of the cars.
The Matchbox UK Sortiment contains the iconic LEVC TX taxi, plus other vehicles that can be seen on the roads in the UK. These include: Land Rover Defender, Austin Mini Cooper, 1972 Lotus Europa, 1961 Jaguar E-Type Coupe, Lotus Exige, Land Rover Series II Safari, Jaguar F-Type Coupe and the Mini Countryman. All of the vehicles are 100% licensed with authentic details.
The model vehicles have a suggested UVP price of €2.49 (£2.15).
Roberto Stanichi, Global Head of Vehicles at Mattel, said: "Matchbox invented the toy car as we know it seven decades ago and now we let go of it these roots inspire to reach the next generation.”
Stanichi added: "We took a close look at the brand values in order to redefine what Matchbox really stands for. With improved design, modern packaging and proven play patterns, we have taken into account the properties that children appreciate most.
