Man identified in connection with alleged Uber driver racial abuse incident, say police

Preston Police have confirmed that a man has been identified following a public appeal for information regarding an incident involving an Uber driver.

Earlier, authorities sought help to identify the individual in relation to an alleged case of racial abuse against the driver and the unauthorised use of the driver’s vehicle. The appeal drew widespread attention.

Police have expressed gratitude to those who assisted with the appeal, noting the importance of public engagement in progressing their investigations.

A Preston Police spokesperson said: “Earlier today we asked for your help in identifying a man we wanted to speak to as part of our enquiries into an Uber driver being racially abused and his vehicle being driven away.

“To update you, the man has been identified and he will be spoken to in due course.

“Thanks to everyone who shared with the appeal.”
