Man charged with the robbery of a taxi vehicle and kidnap after Derby incident
A 26-year-old man has been charged with robbery and kidnap following the alleged theft of a taxi in Derby.
Police received a report at 12.20am on Monday 28 October, that a taxi driver had been threatened by a passenger during a pickup on Hartington Street. The suspect is said to have forced the driver out of the vehicle before driving off.
Leonard David was arrested shortly after, at 1.40am, and the stolen vehicle was located abandoned on Thorntree Lane just before 2am.
Mr David faces multiple charges, including assault, dangerous driving, possession of class B drugs, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was remanded into police custody on 29 October and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court yesterday afternoon.
