In the early hours of Friday 20 September, officers were called to a break-in on Quarrelton Road, Johnstone.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged in connection with 18 separate thefts and acts of vandalism to cars in Linwood and Johnstone.

The crimes, which occurred between 4 and 20 September, saw taxis frequently targeted.

The suspect appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday 23 September.

Inspector Lorna McLaren said: "We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Renfrewshire. This arrest is a result of the efforts of local officers and members of the community being vigilant.

“We would remind residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police. Please also ensure any cash or valuable items are removed from your car when parked and park in well lit areas where possible.”
