Man arrested following alleged Brighton cab rape attack
Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Worthing have arrested a man.
The 31-year-old victim had been at a work Christmas party in Brighton on the Friday evening before Christmas, and due to her level of intoxication, her friends arranged for a taxi to take her home.
The victim was then taken home to Worthing, where it is alleged the driver followed her into her flat and raped her.
It is understood the driver was in a car with green and white door panels. The car picked her up in Western Road, close to the junction with Queens Square, around 1.30am on Saturday 21 December.
Following an intensive investigation by Sussex Police, and information from the public, officers went to an address in Newhaven on New Year's Eve and arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of rape. He is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.
A spokesperson from Sussex Police said the victim is continuing to be supported by specially trained officers.
