Maldon District Council praises taxi and PHV inspection day success

Maldon District Council expressed gratitude to taxi and private hire vehicle drivers who participated in an inspection day on Saturday 20 January.

The event aimed to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with statutory requirements. Of the 61 vehicles checked, the condition was largely impressive, requiring minimal corrective actions.

Positive feedback was received from drivers and the public. The council plans to follow up with drivers who were absent to guarantee their vehicles are inspected within the next month, reinforcing their commitment to passenger safety.

Councillor Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: “We all want to be confident that the vehicle we are travelling in is safe. Carrying out checks on taxis and private hire vehicles helps to ensure that our residents and visitors are safe when travelling in the District.

“I would like to express my thanks to all the drivers who gave up some time to attend the session at the Council offices, and to the staff who carried out the inspections. I would also like to encourage the drivers of any vehicles not yet checked to book their inspection.”
