Tom Hutley, a well-known London cabbie and YouTube video creator, has just released his latest video, "Customer Doesn't Pay - Here's What I Did!”. The video explores common challenges and solutions faced by taxi drivers when dealing with non-paying passengers and other tricky situations.

Hutley takes a look at the impact of lost property, particularly mobile phones, which can cut into a driver's earnings. Drivers are motivated to return items quickly to avoid handing them over to the TfL Lost Property office located miles outside the central London working area.

Non-payment, though rare, is a criminal offense. Some passengers may resort to deception to avoid paying. Occasionally, sending a payment link to another account or a friend's number can recover the fare. Hutley explains why locking passengers in or giving chase is not recommended due to safety risks.

Forgetting to turn on the meter can occur, usually when the driver is busy or distracted. Passengers seldom notice or mention it. Hutley describes why drivers must not charge more than the metered amount, even if the meter was turned on late.

Other reasons why cabbies might not receive a fare includes free rides for special passengers, such as those heading to Great Ormond Street Hospital or veterans on Remembrance Sunday. Fake currency poses a significant problem as does accidentally driving to the wrong location due to miscommunication.

Tom Hutley's video provides a comprehensive look at the daily hurdles and strategies employed by London cab drivers, blending practical advice with personal anecdotes, making it a must-watch for anyone interested in the life of a London cabbie.
